The Super Series Badminton started by the BWF (Badminton World Federation) in 2006. It is played in eleven countries and the finalists clash of at the end of the year. The Super Series badminton is a 12-tournament series and also has a separate ranking table for the series. It was included in the badminton sport calendar to spread badminton and make it more popular among the nations. The 2011 Super Series badminton had a two-tier circuit and sponsored by OSIM. The Seven Super Series events this year were the Malaysian Open, India Open, Singapore Open, Japan Open, Honk Kong Open, China Masters and French Open. This year the Super Series badminton kicked off with the Korean Open and moved to Malaysia, India, Singapore, and China and ended in Hong Kong. The Korea Open offered a prize money of $1.2 million this year which is the highest ever in a badminton tournament. The India Open was included in the Super Series badminton event in 2011 as the Swiss Open was drop. This year the Super Series badminton ended with the Super Series Masters Finals in China and was played on December 14 to December 18. There are five categories of tournaments. They are Men’s Singles, Women’s singles, Men’s doubles, Women’s doubles and Mixed doubles. In the Super Series badminton 2011 tournament, China lead the pack with 45 title wins followed by Denmark  and Malaysia with five each and then Korea with four, Japan and Indonesia with two each and Thailand and Chinese Taipei with one each. Lee Chong Wei leads the current rankings for men’s singles with Chen Long and Lin Dan second and third respectively.
